Radial Collimators

The radial collimator has foils angled in the horizontal plane, often assembled in a large angular range or even a 360 degrees frame.

Among our large variety of radial collimators, you will find circle collimators with more rough collimation as well as fine small-angled systems.

Many radial collimators are used inside vacuum vessels and are produced with vacuum compatible parts and coating. Several examples can be seen in our collimator catalog.

Also, we have designs for stepped radial collimation systems in which a large number of soller collimators are positioned radially around a sample.

Collimator with Cryocooler

A cold head collimator option has been added to our collimator portfolio. The collimator consists of beryllium wedges in a frame of copper placed inside a vacuum vessel. The cryocooler that is positioned on the top of the vacuum vessel works as a close-cycle cryostat that will cool the beryllium wedges via its connection to the copper frame.

Option with Cryocooler
Collimator with Oscillator

The oscillator option is based on an offset cam with the geometry of an Archimedean Spiral, providing a constant angular velocity over the desired angular interval. The oscillating interval is typically over 2-3 foils (1°-3°) and with a frequency of 0.01 Hz – 0.1 Hz

Please see the oscillator video.

A non-magnetic option is available.
